I learned that Ryne Sandberg and Larry Bowa were traded to the Cubs for Ivan Dejesus.

I really miss Harry Carey even though its been 12 years or so. The uniforms were better then, the oversized jerseys and yoga pants they wear now are ridiculous. Maybe they need that to cover up the roid use? BTW if you don’t thing they are using HGH these days, you are blind, stupid, or both. Don’t be that guy.

Barry Bonds is laughably smaller in 1991. Frankly it looks like some of the players had started to bulk up especially the foreign players.

Andre Dawson and Ryno were still thin though. Its a day game and there are 7 people watching at 3 rivers. BTW the hawk hit 2 grand slams in the series. Cubs lost both games. This was his 13 or 14th season.

I was going to write a review of 2010 Topps Heritage Baseball, but everyone has already done that, so instead I will leave you with last years posts. I got a ton of hate mail over them, but they still apply. I’ll leave you with this, you can tell Heritage is a big ol crap on the front lawn price wise because 2009 Heritage High number is $45 a box, but the regular is as high as $90 and there isn’t much of a difference.

2009 Topps Heritage super short print shenanigans
Over at ballcard mania, sorry no link I’m on my iPhone, there is a discussion that there are 7 super sp’s. A few have been identified such as thom glavine, stupid, hanley ramirez in a bosox hat, Smoltz in a bosox-braves thing and 3 or so others. There is another one that is alledgedly unidentified.

The kick in the ass is that these are 1. Intentional 2. “errors” 3. So damn rare.

I get that these are an homage to the original set but why do it. These are the most gimmicky of all. The 07 jeter card was stupid but at least you could pull it with ease. The “errors” that were made look terrible. How did Topps decide to do a “thom” card? Third, the cards are way too short printed. I don’t mind if there are 1 or 2 different cards but at least make them all one per case. Rare enough to chase common enough to pull.

I have the same problem with the Allen & Ginter case break. The Kos-fu is one per case and may have been inserted late. The nno minis and such just frustrate people. I didn’t get even 1.

I think that Topps may have another trick up it’s sleeve with the super sp’s. One may be blaster or retail only; or certain case dates have different sp’s. You might find the last one isn’t found until later shipments. I get that the cases are “sold out”. But that doesn’t mean they are shipped at the same time. Maybe one is going to be found in the “high number” series.

Here is a suggestion to Topps. Cut the current player relics and autos and only include autos of the old guys. That should cut costs and you can then cut the price and thus sell more. I don’t care about another brian mccan single color jersey.

First, really? You’re banging on me because I made a comment about not knowing who Fausto fucking Carmona is? Really? Let’s take a look at his stats. The man is 28-25 with a 4.19 ERA. Lest we not forget last year’s 8-7 5.44 ERA performance. That might be enough to get you into a Donruss Banner Season insert set, but he is still a shit pitcher on a mediocre team. Sorry, I didn’t know about a crap pitcher. Actually I had heard of the guy, regardless, if that’s the auto I am going to pull, no thanks. The card was also considered a ‘big hit”

Second, The set takes you back to your childhood when packs of cards were less than $1? Yeah jerkwad, these cards are $3 a pack. Plus, you have 75, yeah, 75 Sp’s to try and get. The breaks on these boxes have been horrific. Troll around the Forums and you will see a Brooks Robinson “seat” card, 4 chromes and a vg+ buy back. That is considered a pretty good box. Really? How many boxes is it going to take you to complete a set? The only thing Heritage takes, is the money from your bank account and puts it into Topps bank account ya big ass. By the way, for the cost of less than 4 boxes, you can have a set with SP’s. So keep dropping $75 a box on these and good luck building that set. At least masterpieces only has 30 sp’s and they can be had for 1/2 a box of Heritage.

Really? $80 a box for bland ass relics, autos of people I have never heard of, buy back cards that are vg+ or Ex. Gee thanks Topps. Of course the people on this thread think its the best steamy pile ever. At least the chromes are nice.

There just aren’t any rookies to drive this product because of the way the prospect sets are done now. Baseball is by far my favorite sport, but I hope the BB card market abso
lutely collapses so it gets a fresh start.

Well, are you? There are only 4 spots not including me.
Cost is $80 a person. To give you an idea, shipping is $11 to get the cards to you and paypal fees are $2-3. So for the cost of a couple boxes you get 4 boxes worth of autos, jerseys, black framed, YSL, and red frame.

Rules:
you would get all of the basecards and shortprints, Yankees Stadium Legacy Cards (these sell shockingly well), black framed and red framed except for any that I might need for my set, which is few. You would get all of the jerseys and all of the black framed autos. You would also get any printing plates.

I would keep all of the numbered parallels, the YSL jersey card (if there was one), and any jersey/auto, patch, or patch/auto.

This offer is available to as many people that would be interested. At first blush it may seem odd, but I don’t have any interest in the jersey cards and the autos I have most of them.

4 days left to sign up for the group breaks. People tend to wait until the last minute and some people miss out. I get a ton of emails from people asking me to open up a another break after they miss out.

BTW I am doing another SP Authentic football break next month. I am thinking of doing a mix of years 2 2007, 2 2008, and 2 2009 or something like that
